Stupid things I’m finally doing

So, I’ve been reading tons and tons of healthy living/weight loss blogs for, oh, the better part of the last 2 years. You know how I’ve been keeping track of said blogs? Via the bookmarks in my iPhone. Yup, I really have been reading blogs by manually going to their sites every morning, and checking to see if they have a new post. One day last week, I thought to myself. “Self, you know how Google Reader/RSS work. Why don’t you utilize this tool and embrace the technology of the mid-aughts?”. So I spent the better part of an afternoon going though my bookmarks, finding them in Google Reader, and subscribing. Ever since then, when I read my subscriptions and see someone mentioning other blogs, I check them out, and if they seem vaguley interesting, I subscribe to those, too.  It’s revolutionary, I tell ya!

I think this all came about because one of my favorite blogs of all time, Melissa Nibbles, threw in the towel last week. She was my first read every morning, and in her absence, I need something else to keep me entertained. I’ve yet to find a new blog that is as hilarious as she was, but I do feel very up to date on things in the blog world now.

I’ve also created myself a Twitter account for this little blog – @dailydarcie. As of right now, I’m just following bloggers and others that I find interesting, but I do intend to actually tweet someday. Again, I know, how 2009 of me! I blame my twitter avoidance solely on the fact that, in a previous job, it was one of my responsibilities to create all the company tweets, and to acquire more and more twitter followers. As such, I watched a lot of inane tweeting, and got really turned off by it all. But, all the cool blogging kids tweet, so I suppose I should as well.
